California Church Votes to Leave ELCA

Another flock joins the exodus:

The congregation at Christ The King Lutheran Church in Fallbrook has voted to leave the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and join the Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ, citing the ELCA’s recent decision to allow non-celibate gays and lesbians to serve as clergy.

Church leaders said the allowance was “clearly a move against the Scriptures and undermines God’s plan for families and the institution of marriage.”

“For years as a congregation, we have been resolute in staying with God’s word and not changing what the church had previously decreed,” said Pastor Phil Tukua. “The process of making this decision has been a powerful time for the congregation, for years. We have been diligent and have tried to keep the congregation aware of what was going on. The subject was discussed in Bible studies, and there were many meetings.”
