Comparison of LCMC & ELCA

Resources

While many churches looking to be associated with an orthodox Lutheran organization have already left the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, or as individuals have migrated to other Christian communities, others are still in or anticipating the process of discerning what organizational ties will best serve their congregation. As a resource for this process, Lutheran Congregations in Mission for Christ Pastor Tony Stoutenburg of Grace Lutheran Church in Hayward, WI–”with a lot of help from his friends”–has put together this chart comparing various organizational and dogmatic differences between the ELCA and LCMC.

My home church is thinking about leaving the ELCA & joing this church. It is splitting the congreation in half & has pitted friends against friend, neighbor against neighbor, family members agaist one another. My question is how can a lay person give the scarements w/o being ordained? Tell me why I should join this church? Didn’t the early Christians disagree on the teachings? Doesn;t the scriptures tells us to be toleratant?

We are an old LCA church who have voted twice (per constitution) to leave the ELCA.  Pursuant to that constitution, the synod assembly must approve our succession.  They denied us.  Anyone else out there having this problem or how they might have solved it?

Not a biased explanation at all…love all of the facetious “quote marks” in the description of the ELCA…
